"What will the future bring?" Most people ask themselves this question at the turn of the year. Even the greatest optimists have to admit that we are living in challenging times: International conflicts, social tensions, economic uncertainties and environmental problems are causing many of us to worry. But it is up to us to decide how we want to react to this basic feeling of uncertainty: to pull the covers over our heads in fear - or to look ahead courageously and consider how we can and want to shape the future.

Right now, positive visual messages are needed to give people confidence in their own scope for action! Because times of crisis also bring opportunities: they force us to leave our comfort zone and activate our potential for innovation and creativity. At the same time, the value of the tried and tested is being rediscovered, with tradition and innovation going hand in hand. The Munich-based stock photo agency Westend61 has therefore made "Shaping the future" its main theme for 2024 and published an INSPIRE trend.
In view of the increasing complexity of our lives, people are longing for orientation, reliability and security. Authenticity and credibility are therefore highly topical core concepts that everyone who wants to reach their target group with strong visual messages must keep in mind - regardless of the topic or product. This is the only way to build trust. And this is a basic need for many people, especially in view of the many half-truths and untruths spread virtually.

Even in our highly individualized society, the desire for solidarity, social responsibility and shared values is becoming increasingly apparent. In a present that is experienced as crisis-ridden, the "we" becomes more important than the "I". People are moving closer together because they sense and recognize that the tasks of the future can only be mastered together. This is not just about averting danger and overcoming problems - it is also about social rethinking, a new community awareness and dealing responsibly with the rapid pace of technological progress.

"We want to express this basic attitude in our images. Because we believe that this gives our customers an effective tool for visual communication. And we have the photographers who, in coordination with our creative department, always conjure up images with that certain something," says Westend61 CEO Gerald Staufer.
A good idea: anyone who looks at these images no longer sees the future as a gloomy cloud, but as a wide open space for new possibilities: an exciting adventure that we should embark on so that we can develop ourselves and our world further.
